About the Founder

Bridging the gap between traditional electrical wiring and complex off-grid system programming.

Lindsey Broome

Off-Grid Systems Architect

Originating from a sales and deep technical background, Lindsey transitioned into off-grid solar system expertise out of pure necessity while building his own mountain cabin in Colorado. Faced with a traditional installer who understood how to twist wires but lacked the critical knowledge required for complex system programming and setup, Lindsey took matters into his own hands. Relying on his heavy hardware background, he independently installed and configured a 24V Outback dual inverter system, successfully integrating a Honda generator with the assistance of an electrical engineer friend.

This hands-on challenge evolved into two decades of continuous off-grid system operation. Over 20 years of personal off-grid living, Lindsey developed a deep, practical mastery of inverter menus, complex programming logic, and overall system optimization.

A Foundation in Defense & Telecommunications

Lindsey's ability to master complex solar hardware stems from a 40-year career in elite engineering and telecommunications that began in 1981. After earning his FCC first-class license, he spent his early career operating and maintaining integrated satellite and radio navigation systems, including working with the highly precise pre-GPS "Argo" system for survey work capable of two-meter accuracy.

He later spent seven years at TRW Space and Defense in a classified environment, focusing heavily on hardware-oriented signal processing. He built, installed, and troubleshot complex systems integrating Sun Microsystems computers across multiple equipment racks. In the telecom sector with US West and Verizon, he managed massive base-level voice and data infrastructure upgrades for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army—projects valued up to $50 million. His highly specialized skill set even included field-troubleshooting and programming classified military cryptographic hardware, such as the KG-84 encryption device.

The SIO Solar Mission

In the last 18 months, Lindsey's hard-earned expertise has translated into a critical community service, addressing a massive market gap: the need for specialists who can actually diagnose, repair, upgrade, and install small off-grid systems across various brands—including MidNite and Victron—regardless of age.

Whole-System Mastery

Moving far beyond basic wiring into proficiency in system-level configuration, programming, and long-term operational management.

Brand Agnostic

Capable of servicing and integrating diverse equipment, from legacy Outback systems to modern MidNite and Victron installations.

Dedicated Problem-Solver

Specializing in repairs and upgrades for existing small systems, filling a critical need for owners of aging off-grid setups.

Proven Durability

Twenty years of personal off-grid mountain living serves as a testament to the resilience of his system design and maintenance practices.

"Lindsey bridges the gap between traditional electricians who primarily handle wiring, and comprehensive off-grid specialists—offering a unique blend of practical mountain-tested experience and military-grade technical acumen."
